Fronting the object (disposal)

把 puts the object before the verb

把 highlights what happens TO a specific object: S 把 O V + extra.

💬 Examples
我把门关了。
Wǒ bǎ mén guān le.
I closed the door.
📝 把 + object + verb + 了
请把书给我。
Qǐng bǎ shū gěi wǒ.
Please give me the book.
📝 把 fronts a definite object
The verb needs something extra

A 把 sentence requires a result or complement, never a bare verb.

💬 Examples
他把饭吃完了。
Tā bǎ fàn chīwán le.
He finished the meal.
📝 完 = the required result
我把它放在桌子上。
Wǒ bǎ tā fàng zài zhuōzi shang.
I put it on the table.
📝 verb + location complement
The object must be specific

把 is used for definite, known objects.

💬 Examples
把这本书看完。
Bǎ zhè běn shū kànwán.
Finish reading this book.
📝 Specific object (这本书)
我把钱花光了。
Wǒ bǎ qián huāguāng le.
I spent all the money.
