1, 2-4, and 5+ take different cases

The famous Slavic number rule.

📝 2-4 + genitive singular
пять столов
pyat' stolov
five tables
📝 5+ → genitive plural (столов)
один agrees; два has a feminine form

два (m/n) vs две (f).

💬 Examples
два стола / две книги
dva stola / dve knigi
two tables / two books
📝 два (m) vs две (f)
одна минута
odna minuta
one minute
📝 один → одна (feminine)
The whole number phrase declines

In other cases, the number declines too.
