The -e ending rule

Add -e before a noun

Attributive adjectives normally take -e.

📝 +e after de
een grote man
a big man
📝 +e with een + a de-word
No -e with een + a het-word

An indefinite het-word drops the -e.

een groot huis
a big house
📝 No -e: een + het-word
het grote huis
the big house
📝 With het, the -e returns
No -e in the predicate

After the noun (predicatively) the adjective is uninflected.

💬 Examples
Het huis is groot.
The house is big.
📝 Predicate: no -e
De man is aardig.
The man is nice.
