S-passive and bli-passive

S-passive: add -s to the active verb form

The s-passive is common in formal and written Swedish.

💬 Examples
Boken läses av många.
The book is read by many.
📝 läsa → läses (present s-passive)
Dörren öppnas kl. 8.
The door opens (is opened) at 8.
📝 öppnas = s-passive; impersonal
Bli-passive: bli + past participle

bli-passive emphasizes that the action happens to the subject.

💬 Examples
Fönstret blev krossat.
The window was smashed.
📝 blev + past participle krossat
Boken har blivit översatt.
The book has been translated.
📝 har blivit + participle
Agent expressed with av; s-passive for general/impersonal

Use s-passive for general statements; bli-passive for specific events.

Det talas svenska här.
Swedish is spoken here.

Han blev vald av folket.
He was elected by the people.
