No article with proper nouns

the sun, the moon, the internet, the government — only one exists
"the" with superlatives
the best, the most important, the tallest building — always use "the"
Uncountable nouns — always singular
furniture, luggage, news, advice, equipment — always uncountable in English
Compound nouns — stress on first word
CAR park, SUN glasses, BOOK shelf — stress first element of compound
Noun + noun compounds
a coffee cup, a bus stop, a bedroom, a raincoat — first noun modifies second
Gerunds as nouns
Swimming is good exercise / I enjoy reading / She hates waiting
"some" and "any"
I have some bread (affirmative) / Do you have any milk? (question) / I don't have any
