Hopes and Wishes

הַלְוַאי שֶׁאֶפְשָׁר הָיָה לַהֲפֹּךְ אֶת הַזְּמַן לְאָחוֹר.

If only time could be turned back.

haluvai she'efshar haya lahafoch et hazman le'achor.

אֲנִי מְאַחֵל לַדּוֹר הַבָּא חַיִּים שֶׁל שָׁלוֹם.

I wish the next generation a life in peace.

ani me'achel lador haba chayim shel shalom.

אֲנִי מְקַוֶּה שֶׁהַחֲלוֹם הַזֶּה יִתְגַּשֵּׁם יוֹם אֶחָד.

I hope this dream comes true one day.

ani mekave shehachalon haze yitgashem yom echad.

הַלְוַאי שֶׁאֲנָשִׁים הָיוּ בּוֹטְחִים זֶה בָּזֶה יוֹתֵר.

If only people trusted each other more.

haluvai she'anashim hayu botchim ze baze yoter.

אֲנִי כּוֹסֵף לִרְאוֹת עוֹלָם צוֹדֵק יוֹתֵר.

I long to see a more just world.

ani kosef lir'ot olam tzodek yoter.

אֲנִי מְקַוֶּה שֶׁהַמַּאֲמָצִים שֶׁלָּנוּ לֹא הָיוּ לָרִיק.

I hope our efforts were not in vain.

ani mekave shehama'amatzim shelanu lo hayu larik.

הַלְוַאי שֶׁהֶבַנְתִּי אֶת עֵרֶךְ הַבְּרִיאוּת מוּקְדָּם יוֹתֵר.

If only I had realised the value of health sooner.

haluvai shehavanti et erech habri'ut mukdam yoter.

הַמִּשְׁאָלָה שֶׁלִּי הִיא שֶׁלְּכוּלָּם יִהְיוּ הִזְדַּמְּנוּיוֹת שָׁווֹת.

My wish is that everyone has equal opportunities.

hamish'ala sheli hi shelekulam yihyu hizdamnuyot shavot.

אֲנִי מְקַוֶּה שֶׁמָּה שֶׁזָּרַעְנוּ יֵעֵשֶׂה פְּרִי יוֹם אֶחָד.

I hope what we have sown will one day bear fruit.

ani mekave shema shezaranui ye'ese pri yom echad.

הָיִיתִי רוֹצֶה לַחְזֹר לְשָׁם שׁוּב פַּעַם.

I wish I could go there once more.

hayiti rotze lachazor lesham shuv pa'am.

שֶׁלֹּא נְאַבֵּד אֶת הַתִּקְוָה לְעוֹלָם.

May we never lose hope.

shelo ne'abed et hatikva le'olam.

אֲנִי מְקַוֶּה שֶׁהַמִּלִּים הָאֵלּוּ יִמְצְאוּ הֵד יוֹם אֶחָד.

I hope these words find an echo one day.
